New Year's... intentions

New Year’s resolutions get a bad rap sometimes. And I get it - if you want to change or achieve something, why wait until 1 January to start right?

While I completely agree there’s no time to start like the present, there is definitely something appealing about the promise of a blank slate and opportunity to start over in the new year.

So whether you call them resolutions, goals, plans, promises, themes or intentions, here are some questions to ask yourself when you make those New Year’s WHATEVERS:

are they aligned with your values? Do you know why they are important? Do they matter enough to you that you’ll stay the course and do the work, even if the work is hard and it takes a while?

are they realistic? Are you setting yourself up for failure by promising yourself you’ll do something you realistically can’t, for example too much change too soon?

do you have support and systems in place to keep you on track, motivated and moving forward?

how will you know you are succeeding? What are the milestones and what is the end result?

It’s funny, most people don’t think twice about investing in the experts when it comes to money, health, fitness, business, buying a house, and so on, right?

So, why go it alone with your career strategy and job hunt when you could have an expert in your corner?
